These will give you a little more insight into my work
Frequently asked questions
I need a sworn translation. What do I need to do?
First of all, you need to send me the documents you want translated, via the online form. If the documents are in paper format, you will need to scan them properly. Remember to also include your contact details (name, address, email and telephone number).
Once I have received this information, I will send you a no-obligation quote indicating the delivery date. It is then up to you whether you wish to go ahead with the order.
Can you give me a quote without me having to send you the documents?
Unfortunately, not. Each translation project is a world unto its own, and to be able to price it correctly, I will need to analyse the documents first. Remember, the quotes are totally free and with no obligation.
Furthermore, I will treat any documents or information you send me with the utmost confidentiality and in strict compliance with current data protection legislation.
How long does it take to do a translation?
This will depend on the difficulty of the text, the volume of text, the document format and my workload at that time. But to give you an idea, a professional translator can translate an average of 2500-3000 words a day.
In any case, the tailored quotes I send always indicate an expected delivery date.
What do you include in the no-obligation quote and how long does it take to prepare?
My quotes are fixed, there are no additional or hidden charges. Provided you don’t change the specifications of your order, the quote won’t change either.
I check my email regularly throughout the course of my working day, so I usually respond to a request for a quote the same day (except in the case of force majeure!).
I need a translation but I don't know whether it should be sworn or not. What do I do?
It’s always better to be safe than sorry! So I suggest you contact the relevant body to find out, as sworn translators don’t have the competency to decide which translations need to be sworn and which don’t.
Furthermore, if it’s a sworn translation that you’re going to submit abroad, you should check that the receiving entity will accept it. Remember, our sworn translations are recognised officially only in Spain (other countries may not!).
What format do you send the sworn translations in?
Sworn translations are usually issued in paper format, so they would need to be sent via post or messenger (when hand delivery is not possible). In my experience, express or registered mail works really well.
Alternatively, I could send the translation in electronic format (.pdf), with a digital signature. As a result of COVID-19, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation authorises us to send sworn translations certified with our electronic signature. So you only have to indicate which format (paper or digital) best suits your needs.
We're a company and we're interested in your services, but we'd like to see your CV.
That’s no problem. I’m more than happy to send an updated CV to any company who requests it via the contact form.
